Compostmodern

AIGA San Francisco and the AIGA Center for Sustainable Design will present the third biennial Compostmodern on January 19th in San Francisco. Compostmodern is an interdisciplinary design conference dedicated to promoting sustainable solutions within the design community at large. Architorture 07: Pumpkin Carving for Disaster Relief

On Saturday, October 27th from 10AM-6PM, Seattle's DWR First Avenue Studio will be the venue for an exhibit of Architorture 07: AIA Seattle's pumpkin carving "fun"raiser for Architects Without Borders-Seattle. Prior to the event, the AIA architects will be transforming the gourd of all gourds into structural showpieces, which will be on view in the Studio for everyone to come and check out.

dux07 Coming this November

ACM SIGCHI, ACM SIGGRAPH, and AIGA are excited to announce the third dux07(designing for user experience conference) focused on social media and networks. dux07 will gather together designers and researchers to share stories and insights about meeting user and business needs through design. LA's Miracle Mile Art Walk

More than 40 art galleries will participate in the newly formatted “Miracle Mile Art Walk” to be held on the third Saturday of each month, from 12 noon to 5 PM, beginning September 15th in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles. An opening celebration, starting at 12 noon, will be hosted by Couturier Gallery at 166 N. La Brea Ave., with appetizers provided by Panini Grill Deli. An art discussion will follow at the gallery.

PDF Prototypes: Mistakenly Disregarded and Underutilized

Check out this article on boxesandarrows.com that spells out how to develop prototypes using Acrobat. This article debunks some myths about using a PDF for prototyping purposes. Did you know you can add dynamic elements such as rollovers and drop-down menus, embed audio and video files, validate form data, perform calculations and respond to user actions? PDF prototypes also have the ability to replicate most interactive design elements without investing a lot of time and effort.

FILTER Seattle and Bellevue Offices are now re-opened and our servers are up and running after having been closed Friday after the NW's epic windstorm that left 1.1 million Puget Sound Energy customers without electricity. Our accounting crew is busy with payroll and remind all FILTER employees that timesheets are due today, Monday 12/18. If you have any problems submitting hours, please call the payroll staff at 425 688-0094, or email payroll and we will do our best to help make sure everyone gets their timesheet processed and paid on time.
